Steve Maraboli once said, “As I look back on my life, I realize that every time I thought I was being rejected from something good, I was actually being redirected to something better.”
This quote is the epitome of this past year for me. So, read that quote again. Read it twice or even three times. We are never rejected. Life’s mistakes aren’t mistakes. There are no maybes. There are no could haves and there are no should haves. Everything that happens, happens because that is how it is supposed to be. Every decision you make, you were supposed to. So, don’t be afraid to trip or stumble or fall; because if you were scared of those things, you never would have learned to walk after you crawled. Not reaching a goal you once had might be a sign that you had goals you didn’t even know you wanted to reach. Rather than thinking you didn’t reach a certain goal, realize you went beyond it so far that you lost your direct. You exceeded your own expectations. Once in a while we all need to relax. Learn from these so called mistakes and look at the bigger picture. You’re never rejected, you are pointed in a new direction. Every new direction is leading you to something bigger, to something marvelous.
I cannot stress enough that it is your life and that the decisions you make are ones you will live with. You might be 18 living at home or you might be 18 living across the country on your own. Whether you are worried about what your parents think or you are worried what your friends think; you need to stop. Stop worrying. Stop thinking. Just be. Today, my dad said to me “you need to figure out what your majoring in and soon.” I replied by saying, “I don’t know, I want to help people and I want to be happy. I just want to have a fulfilled life of happiness.” My dad said, “well, what’s your passion?” To this I had no reply. Passion. Looks like I have some more self discovering to do.
Find your passion and do what you love. Don’t live for money. Don’t live for your parents or friends. Live for you. Live for today. And just be.
